A company specializing in agricultural chemicals and biotechnology solutions helps farmers combat herbicide resistant weeds.

Dow AgroSciences claims to see a growing number of herbicide resistant weeds. Lyndsie Kaehler is corn herbicide product manager for Dow AgroSciences. Kaehler said the company provides farmers with the tools needed to control weeds in their corn fields.

?Water hemp continues to be the number one driver weed in the state of Iowa. To control water hemp, it?s important to scout at the right time, make timely herbicide applications and use herbicides with multiple modes of action. Our product line of SureStart II and Resicore come in handy because each has three modes of action that are good at controlling water hemp and other tough weeds,? Kaehler said.

Dow AgroSciences did a limited release of Resicore in 2016. After the limited release, farmers applied the herbicide to more than five million acres. Kaehler said, ?That really was a response because farmers are looking for a great tool to help control weeds in their corn and reach the maximum yield potential.?

Farmers approached Kaehler at the 2017 Farm Progress Show and shared their success stories.

?People that have used it come up to me and tell me about their success and how long the residual has lasted,? Kaehler said. ?It?s allowed them to keep their furrows clean, and be proud of the corn their growing.?
