Do Weird Things

Heal the sick, raise the dead, cleanse those who have leprosy, drive out demons. Freely you have received; freely give. -Matthew 10:8

Christians should be weird. They should do things that make absolutely no sense.

We should be opposite of what others are around us. We should be doing things that are out of the ordinary.

In my youth group’s case, this past week…. it meant bringing our dogs to church, taking pictures with them, and sending cards, and pictures to a little five year old who is celebrating his birthday in the hospital this year with a rare disease.

The little boy loves pictures of dogs, so what better way than to gather a bunch of people who also love dogs and love ministering to the sick, and lifting them in prayer?

Serving God, and helping others doesn’t have to be boring, it can be fun and exciting.

Sometimes, I think we make serving God a drag. Get creative. Start loving people outside the box.

Today, start doing weird things for Jesus and His people.

Prayer: “God, thank you for living a life that was completely out of the ordinary. Help me to do the same. I want to love people in weird and radical ways. In your name I pray, Amen.”
