Developer of CRISPR technology to speak at biotech forum in Ankeny

The pioneer of CRISPR technology will speak at a biotech forum in Ankeny next month. The ?Partnering for Growth? forum takes place the 21st and 22nd at the FFA Enrichment Center.

Joe Hrdlicka is Executive Director of the Iowa Biotechnology Association, hosting the forum.

?We?re pretty excited about this year?s forum. It?s the premier biotechnology thought leadership gathering in the Midwest. It is a culmination of emerging companies bring at the best in bio technology and medical technology. Then there are host of other presentations where we going into deeper issues.?

One of those issues is CRISPR technology. Its technology replacing DNA letters in an organism?s genome. Dr. Feng Zhang is a professor at the Broad Institute at Harvard and MIT. Hrdlicka says Zhang was raised in Des Moines and was the pioneer behind this technology.
