The old saying is that ?necessity is the mother of invention.? There is a lot of truth to that, and it doesn?t always mean that there is a sense of urgency behind every idea. Sometimes it?s just time for an old idea to finally be improved upon, which seems to be counterintuitive to another clich? quote ?if it ain?t broke, don?t fix it.? There is always room to do things better. If there wasn?t, we wouldn?t be in the midst of another agricultural revolution.
In that spirit, RedSea has come up with a new greenhouse roof that allows you to regulate the temperature of a greenhouse, without sacrificing the light needed to start plants off. Their idea recently won the Davidson Prize awarded at Commodity Classic by the Association of Equipment Manufacturers and the American Society of Agricultural and Biological Engineers. The system is called Iyris, and RedSea co-founder and CEO Dr. Ryan Lefers tells us more about the system.
Dr. Lefers says it was an honor to be recognized.
RedSea is working hard to help innovate the ag sector.
Dr. Lefers says they are receiving good feedback from those already using the Iyris system.
