A dairy industry leader hopes the global marketplace will help dairy farmers at here at home.

Lucas Lentsch is CEO of the Midwest Dairy Association.

He says one of the challenges the dairy industry faces today is trade.

?Particularly that of global market access one of the exciting things that happened last year is we?ve been working on a partnership. One of those areas is with Yum Brands. We?re are going internationally now with Yum Brands,? Lentsch says.

Lentsch says it’s 140 countries of restaurants.

?That is 43,000 restaurants essentially one restaurant for every dairy farmer in our country. That is a market we are working very closely with to have U.S. dairy products on a global scale but it also speaks to the importance of our U.S Dairy Export Council,? Lentsch says.

Lentsch visited with me at the National Association of Farm Broadcasters Convention earlier this month in Kansas City.
