The dairy industry has been taking its lumps during this pandemic. While other segments of the Ag industry have as well, dairy was looking for this to be a year of rebound. However, we just learned the Farm Service Agency says margins were low enough in March to trigger the Dairy Margin Coverage programs. Now, we have news from the export side.

Former U.S. Ag Secretary and Iowa Governor Tom Vilsack is the CEO of the U.S. Dairy Export Council. He tells us about the first-quarter results of dairy exports. The numbers have been surprisingly positive.

The U.S. Dairy Export Council has turned a lot of attention to the marketplace in Southeast Asia. It has quickly become the fastest-growing market for our dairy products.

In some parts of the world, Vilsack says they are spreading the message door-to-door.

This continued hard work during a pandemic should pay dividends for the American dairy industry.
