Crying Out For Help

There will always be poor people in the land. Therefore I command you to be openhanded toward your fellow Israelite’s who are poor and needy in your land. -Deuteronomy 15:11

The other day, Nala was whining and crying at the front door. She was asking for one of us to pay enough attention to her so that she could be let out to go to the bathroom.

We thought she was just being annoying because she had just been inside. So, instead of letting her out, we ignored her.

When she went #2 at the front door, that’s when we realized that she really needed our help. She needed let out and we ignored her.

I fear that we sometimes treat people like we did our dog. We see them crying out for help, but we ignore them.

There are people all around us, all the time that we leave alone.

We leave people in their crap (pun intended), instead of helping them deal with it.

Maybe it’s out of pure laziness, maybe it’s because we don’t care, or maybe it’s because we are too busy.

Whatever your reason is to leaving people alone is unreasonable.

Don’t wait until it’s too late to give a crap about people.

Prayer: “God, help me to notice the people around me that are crying out for my help. I don’t want to ignore their need. In your name I pray, Amen.”
