Covering of Protection

For in the day of trouble he will keep me safe in his dwelling; he will hide me in the shelter of his sacred tent and set me high upon a rock. -Psalm 27:5

Harold and I were recently gone for a trip that we couldn’t take our two dogs on. So, they had to be dog sat.

On our way back from picking up our little dog (Thor), all he wanted to do was sit under Harold’s legs.

He felt safe, protected, and loved underneath him.

As I laughed at how needy he looked I was reminded of the times that I need to feel safe, protected, and loved.

I was also reminded that God is our shelter, and we can never look needy enough for him.

In Psalm 46 God is literally described as our shelter and strength, always ready to help in times of trouble.

So we do not have to be afraid, when the earth is shaken
the mountains fall into the ocean, or the seas roar and rage, because the Lord Almighty is with us and is covering us.

I don’t think we take advantage enough of the fact that we have a mighty shelter

Today, crawl under the shelter of the God almighty. Feel his protection and love covering you.

Prayer: “God, thank you for being a shelter in my life. Thank you for protecting me, loving me, and allowing me to feel safe. Help me to take full advantage of our covering. In your name I pray, Amen.”
