Cover crops provide more than soil health benefits

Farmers who plant cover crops are used to a little trial and error when it comes to finding the right mix.

Adam Nechanicky, of Buckingham, Iowa, seeded an eight-way cover crop mix into standing corn this summer. Nechanicky hopes to establish a better cover crop stand through early seeding, and utilize the forage as an additional feed source, all while reaping soil health benefits.
