The U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) – National Agricultural Statistics Service (NASS) earlier this week noted significant planting progress across the state. Many farmers have completed corn planting and have made great strides when it comes to soybean planting.
Dennis Messingham, of Waterloo, last week finished planting his commercial corn and soybean acres. He now looks forward to planting seed corn. Messingham, who participates in the Iowa Seed Corn Cover Crop Initiative, tells us about his journey with cover crops.
