Counting Your Blessings

This week I saw the first frost of the season, God?s beautiful creation with the sun on the leaves, and steam rising from the lake. I also felt the cool, crisp air, and inhaled all God had to offer that morning. As we know and will hear, It?s Good to be alive! God is so good.

The blessings have been overflowing in these last weeks, more blessings than I can count!

How do you count your blessings? Does what we give back go into that column? It?s so easy to count what we get, but what about what we give? I think it?s human nature to naturally think about a blessing as something that we get, and we are challenged by not really counting what we give back.

For example, if we pray for someone, would you count that as a blessing if you?re the one doing the praying? Or if you served during the fall luncheon, is that your blessing? My mom often will tell me, ?don?t take away my blessing.? She not only wants to give (take an action), but counts that as her blessing?.there is wisdom and understanding in that.

We are called to bring non-believers to Christ. Doing this requires an action and an opportunity to be blessed. As stewards of our blessings which are ultimately God?s gifts to us, it becomes very obvious that giving back represents an opportunity to be blessed!

Prayer: Heavenly Father, thank you for all your blessings?.and help us to realize that in the giving, comes Your blessing. As the seasons of our life unfold before us, help us to always give something back.
