The rain has brought planting to a halt across the state of Iowa. A halt isn?t exactly welcomed news after a late start to the planting season. However, what has gotten accomplished is very encouraging.

Until Tuesday?s rains, corn planters were moving in Iowa. Even in the northern areas of the state which saw heavy snows less than two weeks prior. Kelly Nieuwenhuis of the Iowa Corn Promotion Board is a farmer in Northwest Iowa. He says that they got rolling on Saturday, despite there being some snow left in ditches.

Nieuwenhuis says fortunately the late start has been the only challenge being dealt with.

With over 35 seasons of growing corn, Nieuwenhuis says that the only constant in agriculture is the there are never two years the same.
