Dry weather allowed many Iowa farmers to make good harvest progress last week.

USDA National Agricultural Statistics Service (NASS) reports 5.7 days last week were suitable for fieldwork. Farmers engaged in a wide variety of activities including: drying and hauling grain, baling corn stalks, tillage and applying manure and fertilizer.

Sixty-seven percent of the corn for grain crop has been harvested, nine days behind the five-year average. Farmers in all nine Iowa crop districts have harvested over half of their corn for grain crop. Southeast Iowa farmers lead the corn harvest with 77% harvested.

Ninety-two percent of the soybean crop has been harvested, three days behind last year and six days behind average.
