Corn conditions in Northern Iowa looking good

Now that we are into July, many farmers are looking at their crops and seeing what they will need to get them across the finish line. Pests and diseases are two of the top concerns. All in all, there have been some decent growing conditions across much of the state. This is a welcomed change after the last two years when nothing was certain. We are going to look at how things are looking in the northern growing areas of Iowa.

Eric Wilson is an Agronomy Manager for Wyffels Hybrids. He is based out of Algona but covers pretty much North of Hwy 30. He talks about how there was a great start to the season, but there are a few challenges as we head through July.

Wilson says there have been reports of adult corn rootworms in the northeast part of Iowa.

Wilson says that if fungicide applications haven?t started yet, they will be soon. However, Wilson says he has a bigger concern with rootworm.

Wilson talks about the performance he is seeing from Wyffels Hybrids in the northern part of the state.

Wilson invites you to drive around and take a look at the corn next to those black and yellow Wyffels signs. When you see how they look, he invites you to log on to Wyffels.com and find a dealer who can get you squared away for the 2021 growing season.
