Container freight increases opportunities for Iowa farmers

Today, we finish examining the Long Beach Harbor where a very large amount of container freight passes through.

The Soy Transportation Coalition (STC) sponsored the half-day seminar and tour in an effort to show the challenges of shipping and the prospect of using containers to haul soybeans across oceans to waiting buyers.

Today, we talk with a southeast Iowa farmer who is on the Soy Transportation Coalition board, and share his views on lowering the cost of shipping and broadening avenues to do so.

Robb Ewoldt farms in the Quad Cities region of southeast Iowa. Ewalt is a big guy who wears a big cowboy hat. He is not all hat, however. Ewalt is an outspoken advocate for Iowa agriculture and sits on the board of the Soy Transportation Coalition
