Consumers want to know more about beef

The cattle industry is having its mid-year meeting this week with all segments, from cow-calf to packers and retailers, putting in their comments and talking about major issues that could bring prosperity or ruin to sales of beef.

The Beef Quality Assurance (BQA) program has been a framework for producers to check their progress against neighbors and competitors who offer other protein sources.

According to National Cattlemen’s Beef Association (NCBA) president Jennifer Houston, it is important for beef producers to understand that today’s consumer is curious about their food and how it is produced. Houston recently spoke with Ron Hays of the Radio Oklahoma Network.
