While much of the focus this week has been on the tools available to combat weeds, farmers know that there are diseases out there that are going to be just as aggressive at robbing their soybean yields. Dean Grossnickle is an Agronomy Service Representative with Syngenta. He runs down some of the diseases we can expect to see pressuring Iowa fields this spring into summer. Those include frog-eye leaf spot, brown spot, and occasionally white mold.

When it comes to treating these diseases, you must make sure you are being effective. Some of the leaf spot diseases in Iowa have been shown to be resistant, according to an Iowa State University study.
