This news may shock some of you, but the Chinese Government is actually outspending the United States in agriculture research and seed-breeding. If you are shocked, you should not be. It has been going on for the better part of a decade.

House Democrats Mark Pocan of Wisconsin and Darren Soto of Florida unveiled the ?Seeds for the Future Act? earlier in 2018. The mission of the act is to make investments in seed breeding programs, which will allow U.S. farmers better access to newer seed technologies. These technologies will help farmers deal with changes in growing their products.

The act makes sure that farmers and researchers have the support they need to develop effective seeds for diverse farming operations and locations.
