AUDIO: Chicago Board of Trade Broker Jason Snow

Many scouts on the Farm Journal Midwest Crop Tour come from all over. Scouts are traders, farmers, analysts and even bankers. Jason Snow is a broker at the Chicago Board of Trade.

?We trade wheat, soybeans, and corn. It is great to see firsthand what we actually trade. A lot of us don?t go out in the rural areas and see what the corn actually looks like,? Snow says.

Snow got his hands dirty taking corn samples across Iowa Wednesday. Yields were all over the place.

?It is what I was expecting. We had a range from 147 and a high of 275 but the average was around the 180 to 200 hundred range (for yields on our route),? Snow says.

He says there are many benefits while on tour.

?You get to see the yields estimated firsthand. Pro Farmer and Farm Jounal (get accurate information) and it follows the trend. You also get to meet great people too.?

The tour is sponsored by DuPont Pioneer.

Scouts examine northern Iowa and southern Minnesota Thursday.

They will meet up with the eastern leg Thursday night in Rochester, MN.
