The Iowa Department of Agriculture and Land Stewardship (IDALS) discourages customers from consuming meat and poultry products from a central Iowa meat market.

The Department?s Meat and Poultry Inspection Bureau found Lambert & Ewers Smoked Meats in Boone operating without a license. The Bureau also found product stored at unsafe temperatures and insanitary conditions.

Compliance officers investigated the facility following a consumer complaint. No foodborne illnesses have been reported at this time. However, the Department discourages customers from consuming meat and poultry products purchased from the facility.

Business records show product was sold at a pickup location, 403 Maple Street in Des Moines, for delivery and online at www.4hams.com.

The company is working with the Department to recall all products. Customers who have purchased meat products from the company can call 1-800-572-7902 for more information regarding the recall.

Investigation into this matter is ongoing.
