National Grilling Day provides an opportunity to prepare fruits, meats, and/or vegetables by way of charcoal, gas, or electric grills. The National Pork Board (NPB) is encouraging folks to consider pork for their next grilled meal.

The National Pork Board will be hosting an all-day Grill-a-Thon on Wednesday, in observance of National Grilling Day. The event kicks off at 10 a.m. and will feature ?a whole lot of fun around the grill,? says Jim Murray, executive chef at the National Pork Board.

?It?s an interesting balance between staying at home and grilling out. Let?s celebrate the season with all things pork,? Chef Murray said. ?The great thing about pork is it?s versatile. Over the course of the day, you will see different chefs, dietitians, and special guests preparing a multitude of different dishes.?

Featured presenters will ?take a virtual tour around the world, grilling pork recipes inspired by cuisines from across the globe in celebration of the flavors of summer.? Chef Murray presents elements of a successful grilling experience. He believes it all starts with great American pork.

?We have a wonderful product,? Chef Murray said. ?What I would do, if it?s a lean cut, (is) put it into a flavor brine. What that does is it helps open the meat on a molecular level. It opens it up and allows flavor to go into the molecules of the protein and close back up, so your flavor is inside.?
