The cattle industry has seen a few good years. A fire at a western Kansas packing plant this summer, however, caused fed cattle prices to drop sharply. After the shock and redistribution of 3,000 head per day to other facilities, the market began to recover.
In the past nine weeks, the market has gone up almost 20-dollar per hundred weight.
