An agriculture equipment company aims to help farmers save money and increase productivity with a new four-wheel drive tractor.

Case IH plans to release its Steiger CVXDrive? tractor in December. Bill Weber serves as high horsepower marketing manager for Case IH. Weber says the implement is an articulate four-wheel drive tractor with a continuously variable transmission.

?With a continuously variable transmission, the transmission talks to the engine and varies the speed of the RPM,? Weber said. ?So, you can lower the RPM, save fuel and horsepower when it?s not needed.”

By adding CVX to the Steiger series, Case IH provides a continuously variable transmission with a peak of 605 horsepower. Weber says the tractor will help Iowa farmers accomplish more tasks in a shorter amount of time.

?Farmers in the state of Iowa are looking for ways to go faster, get things done quicker and hit that magic ten-day window to get their crop in. The CVXDrive tractor allows them to pull implements and tractors faster in the field, with a higher horsepower tractor,? Weber said.

In addition to high horsepower, the Steiger CVXDrive? tractor provides more control and contains easy-to-use characteristics.

?You can set a specific speed when you?re coming along with the grain cart to match the combine,? Weber said. ?It?s also easy-to-use. It uses the same common controls the rest of our CVT transmissions do; it?s easy for the operator to go from one tractor to the next and understand how to operate it. It?s also easy from the standpoint – there?s no gear to start off in.?
