Cargill RegenConnect encourages farmers to practice sustainability

Sustainability in agriculture was a major theme throughout the NAFB trade talk show in Kansas City earlier this month. Almost everyone in the ag industry has either placed emphasis on regenerative agriculture practices or taken steps to help producers actively implement these practices in their farming operation.

At the NAFB trade talk show in Kansas City the IARN caught up with Clay Edwards, sustainability program lead with Cargill, to discuss Cargill?s RegenConnect program.

Edwards says that Cargill offers payment in exchange for additional regenerative agriculture practices.

With Cargill measuring and verifying a farmer?s carbon the company then comes to terms on a one crop year contract with the producer in exchange for additional sustainable farming practices.

Edwards says that farmers have shown a lot of interest in the program because it can provide an additional revenue stream that many farmers might not have either known about or previously considered.
