Candle in the Darkness

When Jesus spoke again to the people, he said, “I am the light of the world. Whoever follows me will never walk in darkness, but will have the light of life.” -John 8:12

Have you ever been in complete darkness? I don?t mean figuratively, I mean physically.

Have you ever walked in a place where there was absolutely no light?

This past weekend a group of us acted like children again, and played hide and go seek in the dark.

The house was completely black, but one of the bedrooms had a candle lit in it. The single match lit up the whole room.

This world can leave us lost, confused, and unsure of the things around us. But just as our world sometimes resembles the dark bedroom, so does Jesus words resemble the little match struck in the darkness.

The light may be small, and we still may stumble in the darkness, but if we let it, that tiny light can illuminate even the darkest corners of our world.

Prayer: “Jesus, thank you for being the light of the world. Thank you for illuminating the darkest moments of my life. Help me to walk in your light. In your name I pray, Amen.”
