U.S. biofuel producers celebrated the one-year anniversary of year-round E15. Emily Skor, Chief Executive Officer of Growth Energy, says it was a milestone worth celebrating.

?While we know fuel demand has taken a hit because of COVID-19, we also know more people are going to turn to a summer driver, opposed to other plans,” Skor said. “And so we look forward to regaining some of that momentum we had last summer, as drivers hit the roads with their families, but also fill up with fuel that?s going to better for the air they?re breathing, their pocketbook, and engine.”

Industry members also celebrated White House commitments to ?address Small Refinery Exemptions, as part of the Renewable Fuel Standard? and funding to build out infrastructure over the course of this year. Additionally, over 2,000 retail stations now offer E15.

Do not be mistaken though. The Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) needs to provide ?regulatory clarity and certainty to get the industry on the road to recovery,? according to Skor.

?There?s a lot pending before the EPA, It?s important that the EPA act quickly. We need clarity and certainty around regulations, so investors and the industry have confidence,” Skor said. “We need a strong and stable Renewable Fuel Standard; we need to make sure the proposed blending obligations for 2021 reinforce a strong Renewable Fuel Standard. There?s been a favorable court decision with respect to Small Refinery Exemptions that reinforces the law, so we need to see EPA comply with that.?
