A commodity group plans to offer insight into production systems and policy in June.

The Iowa Cattlemen?s Association (ICA) will kick-off its 2019 BeefMeets next week. Katie Olthoff, ICA communications director, says the nightly gatherings will feature networking, education, policy and listening sessions.

?We have our five BeefMeets coming up in June,” Olthoff said. “These are evening events, kicking off (at) about 5:30 and wrapping up around 9. We?ll have a couple of educational speakers at each event and we?ll also have an opportunity for producers to weigh in on issues affecting them on the farm.”

BeefMeet speakers will discuss a variety of topics, centered around production and policy.

?At each BeefMeet, we?ll have one speaker focusing on production. We?re covering cover crops, calving in confinements, heifer selection, as well as other topics,” Olthoff said. “Then we will have a speaker cover policy, (providing) updates on international trade, WOTUS and farm bill implementation. (It’s) a great opportunity for producers to get a little bit of the production aspect, as well as the policy aspect.?

All are welcome to attend. Registration costs include: $25 for ICA members, $35 for non-members and free for students. Dates, times and locations for each BeefMeet can be found at www.iacattlemen.org.
