The next major report for the cattle industry – the January Cattle Inventory Report – comes at the end of the month.
The U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) is currently closed, due to the government shutdown, so this report and several others won?t come forth from the National Agricultural Statistics Service (NASS).
A livestock economist from Kansas State University says growers need to find alternative sources of information as they plan for the coming year. He also says there may be ways for the cow/calf sector to make a profit in 2019.
