The Bayer Fund is once again supporting the growth of science, technology, engineering and math (STEM) education in our rural public-school districts by once again opening nominations for the America?s Farmers Grow Rural Education Program.

Erin Glarner is the Community Outreach Manager for Bayer. She talks about the Grow Rural Education Program and how it started.

Glarner says nominations are open for farmers to nominate their local public school district.

When a district is nominated, they will have to fill out an online application.

The task of choosing the winning schools is not taken lightly.

Past winners have overhauled science labs, added greenhouses, added welding equipment for career training, one school even purchased a 3-D printer. After a year of planning, design, and building; they used that 3-D printer to create a prosthetic arm for a local farmer who had lost his in an accident.

Farmers have until April 1 to submit a nomination for their local school district. For more information or to complete a nomination, go to www.americasfarmers.com.
