Today is the first day of spring. It certainly feels this way in downtown Des Moines. The snow is all but gone and the air feels warmer and smells sweeter. I have seen the return of migratory birds and waterfowl, and soon our friends the bees will be back. Bayer is striving to help protect these critical little pollinators with their Feed a Bee initiative.

Bayer started their Feed a Bee program back in 2015 with the goal of increasing pollinator habitats in all 50 states by 2018. This goal was reached. Dr. Becky Langer-Curry is a project manager with North American Bee Health and Forward Farming. She talks about Bayer?s program and its goals to increase these habitats.

Bayer has donated over $650,000 forage grants around the country. Dr. Langer-Curry says Bayer?s efforts have helped in researching the needs of bees and other pollinators.

Beekeepers have many challenges to deal with when maintaining hive health.

Find a Bee has contributed more three billion wildflower seeds, but there are more which farmers can do.
