We have been inundated with carbon programs. Everybody seems to be getting into the act. Carbon sequestration is going to be the future in Agriculture, and the question that farmers will eventually need to ask themselves is not if they will become a part of it, but how.

Every program is as different as your field is from your neighbor?s. The trick is going to be finding one that gives you an opportunity to make the best decisions for your farm while getting the most bang for each enrolled acre. Bayer is confident that their program is the one that you will need for the future of your operation.

Audio: Full Interview with Bayer’s Lisa Streck

Lisa Streck is the Carbon Business Model Grower Program Lead at Bayer, and she talks about their carbon program and what options are available.

Streck says that the program, in its second year, is attracting new producers all the time. She explains how farmers can get involved. It starts with a Climate Fieldview account.

Streck adds that while the payments are a great incentive, the benefits to the soil health aspect are worth enrollment on their own. That?s something that pays dividends for years to come.

Like with anything new, there are going to be some that are hesitant to try. Streck really encourages farmers to start small and gather information from those who have been doing it for a while.
