BASF and Corteva Agriscience made a joint announcement on Monday that the two companies will combine in a joint effort to develop future herbicide-tolerant soybeans and complementing herbicides.

The cross licensing agreement between BASF and Corteva Agriscience will include the development of new trait stacks as well as optimized herbicide options for future weed control needs.
Peter Eckes President of

R&D and Regulatory at BASF Agricultural Solutions says this is a partnership focused on the future of weed control.

Eckes says the partnership allows the two companies to combine strengths.

He says that with innovations in trait stacks and complementing herbicides yield numbers can continue to grow.

The stack of four herbicide tolerant traits is expected to be available in all Coreteva seed brands. Corteva has also licensed the stack for use in BASF seed brands.

The companies foresee commercialization of these advancements in the early 2030s after regulatory reviews and field testing.
