Balance GT soybeans set for 2017 launch: Lindsey Seitz, MS Technologies

PHOENIX – Marestail, palmer ameranth and waterhemp have a new enemy in the Balance GT soybean system, a new collaboration between MS Technologies, Bayer CropScience and Mertec LLC.

At the 2015 Commodity Classic, MS Technologies Brand Manager Lindsey Seitz explained that Balance GT soybeans are tolerant to glyphosate, as well as isoxaflutole, which is the active ingredient in the system’s herbicide, Balance Bean. Seitz says that means growers who also grow corn will already be familiar with the chemistry.

Seitz says the Balance GT launch is anticipated for 2017; U.S. approval is already in place, but Chinese import approval is still up in the air. Balance GT soybeans are approved in Canada and Australia/New Zealand.

In the future, Seitz says Balance GT beans will be a triple-stacked system, tolerant to the Liberty Link herbicide as well.
