Iowa’s Lt. Governor Kim Reynolds says she thinks the presence of DuPont’s cellulosic ethanol production/refining plant in Nevada, Iowa, is an incubator for a whole new industry.
The groundbreaking for the plant was on November 30, and DuPont expects for it to be producing ethanol by 2014. The RFS requires the equivalent of 640 plants the same size as DuPont’s to be constructed in order to meet the mandate that 30% of liquid transportation fuels be sourced from renewable fuels.
