ASA President discusses need to quickly implement infrastructure bill

As the year ends, we look back at the year that was and look ahead at what we want to accomplish in the year to open. The American Soybean Association (ASA) is focused on the need for strong exports and a diverse marketplace. Of course, the marketplace doesn?t mean much for American farmers if there isn?t an efficient way for producers to get their beans to the markets. Even with an infrastructure bill passed, there is still much work that must be done.

Brad Doyle is the President of the ASA and he talks about the mission the organization has going into the new year. Marketing soybean products are at the top of the list. Whether it is developing foreign or domestic markets, the ASA is working with partners to increase demand for soybeans. One great example of how this work pays off is in biodiesel.

Doyle adds that if we don?t have a strong infrastructure, we are going to be hard-pressed to be able to compete. With infrastructure legislation approved, we must roll up our sleeves and get to work. The list of infrastructure improvements that must be made is long.

As Doyle mentioned, Brazil has the U.S. by acres. However, they are also working to upgrade their infrastructure. There are many countries, including China, that are making investments to help them accomplish that goal. While some customers, like the EU, are looking to source their products from acres that weren?t deforested. America has no time to waste in keeping one step ahead of the Brazilians.

Tomorrow, we will wrap up our talk with ASA President Brad Doyle about other areas the ASA is focused on for 2022.
