The National Pork Board is on the hunt to find America?s Pig Farmer of the Year. Keith Schoettmer of Tipton county currently holds the title and he says you can never prepare for an experience like this.

?It?s been very, very interesting to do the media coverage and just to promote pork and pig farming and the things that pig farmers are doing to show we care about the animals we?re raising.?

America?s Pig Farmer of the Year travels around promoting pork and on-farm practices that they use to raise the best products possible. Schoettmer says he?s been interview by publications like OK! and People magazine.

?Not used to that, but my kids certainly are. And they go to these sites very regularly. And so we felt very compelled that we needed to be there as well. So if they have questions, we can be on their sites to tell them how pigs are raised.?

Schoettmer hasn?t been traveling alone, though. Recent star of the hit show The Bachelor, Chris Soules, is a pork producer from Iowa. He?s been along for the ride.

?People are very, very interested in his story. And we just kind of segue into it with the story of pork and Pork Cares and Chris has been very gracious and really does have our best interest in his mind when we do these interviews so it?s really been a pretty nice partnership.?

Nominations open January 1st for the next America?s Pig Farmer of the Year. Click here for more information.
