May is Beef Month in Iowa and across America. When you think beef, you probably think of a big juicy steak or even a burger.

To kick off May Beef Month, the Iowa Beef Industry council named their 2018 Best Burger in Iowa. This year’s honoree is the Café Beaudelaire in Ames.

The Iowa Beef Industry Council gathered nominations from February 12th through March 12th. More than 9,200 nominations were received. The number of nominations then determined the “Top 10” finalists.

The list of finalists was as follows:
• BurgerFiend, Cedar Rapids
• Cafe Beaudelaire, Ames
• The IowaStater Restaurant, Ames
• Moo’s BBQ, Newton
• Morgan’s Corner, Ottumwa
• Rides Bar & Grill, Fort Dodge
• Robin’s Nest Cafe, Clarinda
• Saucy Focaccia, Cedar Rapids

According to the Beef Council’s website: “to qualify, the burger must be a 100% beef patty or patties, although other ingredients may be added such as spices, and served on a bun or bread product. Burgers may include any combination of condiments, sauces, cheese or toppings”.

Café Beaudelaire is in Iowa State University’s campus-town and is a Brazilian inspired restaurant located at 2504 Lincoln Way in Ames.
