Momentum with AgView continues to grow, as over 800 producer users are currently using the pig movement tracking platform. With more than half a million movements recorded last year from pig farmers, Dr. Patrick Webb, National Pork Board assistant chief veterinarian, said this acceptance continues to grow with the latest update of ?peacetime? sharing.

?Peacetime sharing is now an opportunity for producers to go into their AgView account and select a peacetime sharing opt-in,? Dr. Webb said. ?This allows them to share their locations and movements in peacetime with their state animal health officials through the AgView account that they have. It all shows up on a nice map where you can see the locations and you see the movement.?

Dr. Webb said AgView?s peacetime sharing has already helped producers with emergency preparedness.

?AgView allows that data to be visualized by the state Animal Health official,? Dr. Webb said. ?We?re seeing real positive results there for producers who have agreed to opt-in to the data share, as well as the state vets who have seen those locations and those movements being shared over. It’s an exciting time by how we look at producers being proactive for emergency preparedness.?

Dr. Webb added that producers who haven?t seen AgView can request a demonstration on how the Checkoff-funded tool works.

?Reach out to the pork checkoff get a demo request in there, and we’ll show you what the technology does,? Dr. Webb said. ?We’ll talk about we have it secure and we’ll talk about permission. You’re the one who permissions the data sharing, and we’ll show you the importance of the data being shared to a state when it’s needed to make risk-based decisions.?
