Ken Root and I are bringing you full coverage of this year?s Farm Progress Show from Boone, Iowa. One of the topics a major a company is talking about is weed management.

Dean Grossnickle is an Agronomy Service Representative with Syngenta. He says when he looked at weed trends across the state this year was a lot of water hemp.

?Water hemp control was really poor this year for many reasons. Water hemp control and a lot of grasses that got established early given in some parts of the state it was dry so we did not get some of these pre-emergence herbicides activated. It was really a struggle with weeds across the spectrum this year but specifically water hemp with the weather conditions.?

Grossnickle adds farmers should consider a herbicide with multiple modes of action to battle resistant weeds.
