I don?t think anybody here does not know about the fact that we have an issue with our supply chain. When it comes to equipment, could we be seeing shortages on parts and replacement machinery?

Kip Eideberg is the Senior Vice President of Government & Industry Relations for the Association of Equipment Manufacturers. He was just visiting Iowa last week with Senator Joni Ernst, in Knoxville, at the Weiler plant. This was part of the Senator?s 99 county tour that she holds annually.

It was an opportunity to discuss the AEM?s legislative priorities aimed at restoring some certainty for American manufacturers. Their top priority is the Bipartisan Innovation Act. The legislation includes the Chips Act. The shortage of semiconductor chips is having a huge impact on our production.

Eideberg is also hopeful that this legislation will provide funding to assist students who are pursuing two-year degrees through Pell grants. The shortage of trained workers is highlighting the importance of program assistance that only four-year schools currently enjoy.

This is the first in a three-part series. Next time we hear from Kip Eideberg, we will talk about the supply chain issues for getting replacement parts this spring.
