Benson Hill has been expanding its infrastructure in the state of Iowa in recent years. Jeff Johnson, the vice president of grower supply chain with Benson Hill says that the company?s recent facilities expansion in the state has been a big benefit for Iowa farmers.
Johnson says that Benson Hill provides a different avenue to profit than the traditional commodities model that most farmers are accustomed to.
He says farmers who are already enrolled in the Benson Hill growers program are preparing for planting in order to maximize yield from Benson Hill?s specialty products.
Benson Hill is already starting to work on contracting for 2024 but there are still some opportunities for growers to work with Benson Hill this year.
