“Two-thousand-nineteen was a challenging year, due to weather extremes,” notes a crop protection specialist. This year, despite its challenges, presented more favorable weather conditions, assisting farmers in their fight against tough weeds.

Syngenta launched a new corn herbicide in 2015, called Acuron. Steve Gomme, Syngenta herbicide product lead, says Acuron’s “overall performance this year was strong.”

“Acuron is consistent across different geographies, environments, and soil types. We’re seeing really strong results – Not just with the weed control, but also the yield impact,” Gomme says.

Acuron offers a generous payoff, in terms of yield. Syngenta reports a “five to 15 more bushels an acre than any other herbicide.”

Syngenta’s leading corn herbicide boasts four active ingredients, including bicyclopyrone, which is unique to Acuron.

“If you’re a farmer concerned about resistance management, this is a strong product that’s going to provide you different sites of action to overcome these challenges. A unique active ingredient called bicyclopyrone brings strong performance, both pre- and post-, on tough-to-control weeds,” Gomme says.

Gomme adds, “What’s nice about Acuron, is the fleixiblity.”

“You can use it as: A full rate pre-, split shot, two-pass, and as a post-applied product,” Gomme says. “There’s a wide window of application. If you run into a weather event, where you have to change your application plans, you can just switch the way you use it.”
