The Iowa State Fair is filled with lots of agricultural youth competing, showing, and just walking around. One building that showcases the talent of the agricultural youth is the 4-H Exhibit Building. There you will find the talent and creativity from the 4-H members and all their hard work this summer.

Mitchell Hoyer, the Assistant Director of Iowa 4-H and the Superintendent for 4-H at the Iowa State Fair talks about their relatively newer 4-H Exhibit Building and the history behind it.

Hoyer mentions how many 4-H exhibits and counties are at the Iowa State Fair this year. When it comes to creative arts, Hoyer says that the Iowa State Fair has one of the largest exhibits in the state. He finishes up talking about how many communication events are at the fair, and how many exhibitors that typically brings in.

Hoyer talks about the Extemporaneous Speaking and Share the Fun Events that exhibitors compete in. He notes that the rules and regulations are a little different at the State Fair for the Extemporaneous Speaking Event.

Hoyer mentions his experience over the years and says that he has had many great memories. He talks about coming to appreciate the creativity that the 4-H youth continue to have every year. He also mentions how personal some of the projects become to some of the youth as well.

At the Iowa State Fair, you have people who are involved in agriculture every day of their lives and you have people who know nothing about it. Hoyer talks about the opportunities he has to educate those who don?t have any agricultural knowledge about 4-H. He says his favorite part is working with the 4-H youth.
