2019 Pro Farmer Midwest Crop Tour — Many questions to be answered

by | Aug 19, 2019 | 5 Ag Stories, News

One of the biggest questions in the agriculture industry is: ?What will this crop year yield??

The Pro Farmer Midwest Crop Tour began today, giving many in the industry an opportunity to travel across major corn and soybean growing states over the next four days.

It is not as structured as the U.S. Department of Agriculture?s (USDA) monthly crop reporting, but it has more ?real world? observers. Most farmers right now say the USDA is wrong on acres and yield, with both viewed as too high in the August report.

We sent Dustin Hoffman on the western leg of the tour. He will be providing content to our affiliate stations and website each day.

We will look at initial observations from the eastern leg, which started this morning in Ohio. Farmers in those states had more rain and problems than those in the Western Corn Belt.
