The serpent said to the woman, ?Did God really say, You must not eat from any tree in the garden’?? -Genesis 3:1

In my life I have recently noticed that any power that satan possess in my life, is power I have given him.

As I was reading through the Bible, I realized that I wasn’t the only one who has allowed him to have some sort of power.

Any power satan every had in scripture was approved by God first.

In Genesis, satan approaches Eve. We all know the story. He tempts her with the “better” fruit, and she takes the bait. Does the serpent eat the fruit for Eve? Of course not! She engages in a conversation with him, and eventually falls for his schemes. The power satan received at the beginning of humanity was handed to him, by Eve herself.

In the book of Job, you find a faithful servant who loves God passionately. In this story, Satan literally approaches God and asks for permission before ever afflicting, or taking anything from Job.

Satan has to answer to the Lord before every approaching God’s children. He only has power when we decide to give him it. Once God approves the tempter, he comes to us. Then, we get the decision of how much power he is going to obtain.

I think we Christians give more power and credit to satan than we ever should. In reality, he is completely powerless if you refuse consent. He can’t force you to do wrong. You make the final choice. Satan doesn’t make choices for you. He doesn’t have that option….you do!

The power Satan has in your life, is the power you have handed him. Friend, refuse today to let satan obtain any power over your life. When you do, he is completely powerless.

Prayer: “God, thank you for the power that you have. Keep me alert and aware of satan’s schemes. Help me to realize the power that I give him, when it is completely unneccesary. In your name I pray, Amen.”
