Showcasing Love

If I have a faith that can move mountains, but do not have love, I am nothing. -1 Corinthians 13:2

As a Christ follower, an active church goer, and a pastor’s wife I think that a lot of Christians and people in the church have gotten it wrong when it comes to loving people.

Honestly, I think we make loving people a lot more complicated than Jesus did.

We spend a lot of time calling them out on what their doing wrong, instead of just loving them for who they are, and where they are.

Jesus loved bad men, and nasty women. Jesus loved everyone, and so must we.

Jesus loved people when it didn’t make sense.

You can disagree with someone and still showcase love to them. Jesus certainly did.

The way that Jesus loved ended up breaking rules, it was radical, unheard of, and a bit ridiculous, but that’s what truly made it love.

Love doesn’t always make sense, and it won?t obey all the rules we try to give it.

In the Bible, when people used the word of God to hurt people made in the image of God, Jesus was quick to remind them they were on the wrong side of God.

Christ followers, get on the right side of God today. Stop hurting people! Instead, love them in a radical and unheard of way. Love them like Jesus.

Love them where they are, not where you want them to be.

Prayer: “Jesus, thank you for loving people the way that you did. Help me to better love people. I want to be a reflection of your love. In your name I pray, Amen.”
