Savoring Him

So the Lord spoke to Moses face to face, as a man speaks to his friend. -Exodus 33:11

Recently, I was in an arena where a bottle of water is $5, and pop costed practically an arm and a leg.

After trying to fight thirst, I finally gave in and bought a small Dr.Pepper that was entirely too much money.

Once I got this drink I savored every single sip. I lingered on it. I did not rush into getting it all drank, even if I was super thirsty. I knew how precious and expensive this drink was. I was not going to take it for granted.

As Christ followers, I think that’s how we should approach Jesus.

We should savor him. We should linger in His presence. He is so important and so priceless, yet we often treat Him far from this.

I fear sometimes we rush through spending time with Him. We take our ability to commune with Him for granted. He is too important and too precious just to get Him time with Him out of our way.

Because of the importance of that Dr.Pepper I wanted to savor it as long as I possibly could.

Today, savor Jesus more than you have been lately. Indulge on His very existence. Linger in His presence.

Prayer: “Lord, thank you for wanting us to dwell on you. To take our time and just to soak up your presence. I love you. In your name I pray, Amen.”
