Ice Cold

They are darkened in their understanding, alienated from the life of God because of the ignorance that is in them, due to their hardness of heart. -Ephesians 4:18

6359177788870680571437371899_cold_hearted-1920x1080Living in Iowa, I am sure you saw at least some kind of ice in the last few days. I know that I did. Due to the ice and gloomy weather, I didn’t really want to go or be anywhere except home.

As I looked out at the sheet of ice that covered my sidewalk and driveway, I was unfortunately pricked that sometimes I can be cold-hearted.

I can be rough, rude, snarky, and guarded. Like the ice I can cause hurt and struggle. I can make things difficult.

However, where there is a great deal of sun, there is not very much ice present. The ice typically melts in the light of the sunshine.

Spiritually, the ice on my heart melts in the light of Jesus. The more time I spent up and personal to the Lord, the less of a cold chill I give to others around me.

Let’s keep the ice on the ponds, and far from our hearts! Thaw out that heart of yours, and let it soak up the Son.

Prayer: “Lord, help me to soften my heart to you, and to all the people around me. I can easily grow cold in my heart. Help me to me more like you’re heart. In your name I pray, Amen.”
