This past week wet weather has slowed harvest for most farmers across the state. Although, one area is still pretty dry.

State Climatologist Harry Hillaker says September has been a pretty wet month but there are some exceptions though.

?The southeast corner of the state roughly Ottumwa south and east from there it?s been an unusually dry September. It seems hard to believe given how wet things have been elsewhere. Certainly a large part of north central and northeast Iowa incredibly wet and I think on the long term north central will be bigger concern because of the lay of the land there and it doesn?t drain very well.?

He says expect dry conditions through the weekend but rain returns next week.

?Early part of next week looks to be getting into a wetter pattern once again. It is hard to say this far out how wet that might be but looks wetter than usual for that week of October.

Hillaker says overall we don?t look to be done with the rain quite yet but at least were getting a nice break right now.
