Can I See Your Credentials?

Be imitators of me, just as I also am of Christ. -1 Corinthians 11:1

This past weekend was the Iowa High School State Wrestling Tournament.

I worked the coverage for the radio station. To get to our floor, and our press box you had to have the media pass hanging around your neck.

Getting into the building, room, elevator, and anywhere else the people would ask, “Can I see your credentials?”

The definition of credentials is a qualification, achievement, personal quality, or aspect of a person’s background, typically when used to indicate that they are suitable for something.

I felt like the holy spirit spoke to my spirit when asked that question.

“Whitney, What if someone asked to see your credentials as a Christ follower. Would you have the proof?”

I want to be suitable and proven guilty of loving and representing Jesus everywhere I go. I want my background and achievements to reflect Him, and what He’s done in my life.

We should wear who Jesus is like a press pass around our neck. People around us should be able to identify who He is because of who we are.

Do you have your credentials of being a Christ follower? Where are they? Are they hanging around your neck for all to see?

Prayer: “Lord, at all times I want to be identified as a Christ follower. Thank you for speaking to my spirit and asking the tough questions. Help me to be like you. In your name I pray, Amen.”
